Today’s post comes from Gabrielle Miranda, class of 2018 and Art Center Student Docent.
This is part four of a six part series. To learn more about the Poetry Off the Wall series, view the first post here.
This fourth installment features me, Gabrielle Miranda. I’m a sophomore Political Science major with prospective correlates in both English and Hispanic Studies. I wrote about Carl Frederik Aagaard’s 1880 painting, Visitors on the North Shore of the Kullen Peninsula, Sweden.
My poem is written from the perspective of the woman seated on the bottom left portion of the painting. I chose this painting because it was one that I hadn’t previously engaged. I decided to consider it from within in order to construct a poetic interpretation different from my usual viewing process.
