Enter any artist supply store and you will be greeted by a small wooden figure with disjointed limbs. These ubiquitous manikins are used by artists to practice drawing the human figure in a variety of poses and postures. Imagine my delight when I was shown this short animated film by Fred Johnstone, a student at the Brockwood Park School, that animates one of these familiar figures. Johnstone, in his first short film, imagines what happens when drawing students leave the studio. Hopefully this film will bring a smile to your face this Thanksgiving.
